DESCRIPTION

The earth rises up like the maw of a hungry dragon to clamp around your foe and hold it in place.

The jaws burst from the earth in a 10 ft. by 10 ft. space and can immediately target a creature within that space or adjacent to it. The target creature takes damage equal to 2d6 + your Charisma modifier (Reflex half). Immediately, and at the beginning of each of your turns, the creature is the target of a grapple combat maneuver. The jaws’ CMB is equal to 10 + your caster level + your Charisma modifier for the purpose of this combat maneuver check.

Each round, you may choose to have the jaws perform either damage a grappled creature, pin a grappled creature, pull a grappled creature further into the earth, or target a creature within reach (which takes damage and is targeted by a grapple combat maneuver as above).

If you choose to drag a creature further into the jaws, then each time they succeed at a combat maneuver check to grapple a foe, they drag the creature farther down, eventually forcing the creature below the earth’s surface. With the first successful check, the target gains the grappled condition. Grappled opponents can't move without first breaking the grapple (doing so requires a successful DC 20 combat maneuver or Escape Artist check). The jaws receive a +5 bonus on combat maneuver checks to grapple opponents it is already grappling. After the second successful grapple combat maneuver check, the grappled creature is pulled to the ground and becomes prone. On the third successful grapple combat maneuver check, the creature is fully buried and must hold its breath or begin suffocating.

A buried creature can't attempt to escape unless the effect ends or it breaks the grapple. The DC to escape the grapple increases to 25 for a creature that has been pulled beneath the earth.

Once a creature is buried, the jaws cannot be used to damage or pin the creature, but they may attempt to grapple another creature in range.
